The case involved hosting data from two custodians, which was reviewed by three document reviewers on the advanced online review platform, Relativity. The case had a very strict deadline. It was therefore essential that the time taken between collections and processing was kept to a minimum and the operation conducted as smoothly as possible.
For this case, we were tasked with the collection of several devices at different locations as well as three email accounts. To conduct this efficiently, we sent out specialist onsite investigators to collect data from London and Italy, whilst project managers, at the office, conducted remote email downloads. This simultaneous workflow allowed for the project managers to begin processing the email accounts onto Relativity, as this was of a high priority.
The sense of prioritisation was essential throughout the case as it ensured that the reviewers started reviewing the data in a quick and timely manner. Once the onsite data arrived back to the lab, project managers started to collate and cull the data collected making sure the data was ready to be processed onto the Relativity platform.

Once the data had been discovered and published into Relativity, keywords in both English and Italian were supplied. Our ECA meeting with the client enabled us to identify possible ‘problematic’ keywords and allowed us to suggest alternatives and specialist searching techniques, such as wildcards. Various analytics were used to reduce the data set further to make the job of the reviewers easier and more manageable.
Firstly, Language Identification was conducted to give a full breakdown of all the languages contained within the data. This allowed project managers to split the data for the reviewers into separate batches of English documents and Italian documents, so the reviewers could split resources.
Parallel to this, Email Threading and Clustering were used to reduce the chance of reviewers reviewing the same documents multiple times. Once the workspace was set up and ready, the clients were given access and trained on the platform, while receiving ongoing support throughout their review.
CYFOR utilise premium eDiscovery software, in the form of Relativity. This is an advanced online review platform, incorporating several invaluable features, including email threading, predictive coding and search analytics. These vastly improve review speed and allow data to be filtered and visualised, so you can find the exact information you require quickly and efficiently.
