The Cost of Cutting IT Security
20th October 2009
A growing number of companies are putting themselves at risk by cutting IT security to reduce costs in light of the recession.
These cuts are being made precisely when the number of cyber attacks targeting UK businesses is increasing, also fuelled by the economic downturn.
Security analysts RSA have reported that after the US, the UK is most at risk from cyber attacks. In the past month 20% of attempts to hack and defraud were directed at British companies and their customers.
The risks of cutting security budgets are large.
The online society in which we now live means that the effects of attacks are felt immediately and could take a long time to recover from.
