CCTV has captured a man secretly releasing a rodent from his pocket at the Borneo Bistro in Sunderland.

Christopher Baker, 28, had paid his bill but then put the animal on the floor and started screaming ‘it’s a rat. I’m not eating here, I want my money back’. Embarrassed waiters apologised and he was given a refund.

The CCTV evidence provided explicit proof and Baker pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation at Sunderland magistrates court.
